A Norwegian woman (Renate Reinsve) and her devout Romanian husband (Sebastian Stan) relocate with their five children to a remote coastal town. As their teenagers grow closer to a neighbouring family, tensions begin to escalate when their tight-knit new community starts to question their rigid beliefs. Soon, the parents are forced to counter accusations that could tear their household apart – and battle a system that blurs the line between concern and prejudice.
Captivatingly led by Academy Award-nominees Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve, Cristian Mungiu's Palme d'Or winner FJORD delivers a gripping study of a family under scrutiny.
"Romanian filmmaker Mungiu constructs another slowly simmering knockout. It unfolds in a gray area of clashing ethical priorities without an ounce of didactic moral pandering," Tomris Laffly, Elle
